General Information and History
Departments of Computer and Instructional Technologies Education were first opened in 1998 by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) as part of the restructuring of faculties of education.
The proposal of Firat University to admit 40 students to the CITE Department for the 2004-2005 academic year was examined at the YÖK executive board meeting held on 11/05/2004, and the said proposal was found appropriate in accordance with Article 7/H of Law No. 2547 amended by Law No. 2880. Our department started its educational services for undergraduate students in the 2004-2005 academic year with 42 students enrolled in the first term. Additionally, our department started to admit students to the evening education program from the 2006-2007 academic year. However, with the closure of evening education programs of faculties of education by YÖK, the admission of students to our evening program was also stopped.
As of today, the CITE Department at Fırat University continues its activities by providing education and training at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
